Advertiser terms

These terms govern your use of the RHUL Mobile partner platform as a business that runs deals, listings, or placements in the RHUL Mobile app. They are separate from the app terms of service that apply to students using the app. If you do not agree to these terms, do not subscribe.

1. Who you are contracting with

The partner platform is operated by Shacksolutions Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 13337279) ("we", "us", "our"). You can reach us at rhulmobile@shack.solutions. In these terms, "you" means the business subscribing to a partner plan and anyone acting on its behalf.

RHUL Mobile is an independent, student-built app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially connected to Royal Holloway, University of London or Royal Holloway Students' Union.

2. What you get

A partner subscription gives your business a presence in the RHUL Mobile app according to your tier (Local, Featured, or Anchor). Depending on the tier this includes a listing in the Deals tab, a profile with a campus map pin, a number of active deals, and an analytics view of impressions and redemptions. The exact entitlements per tier are shown on the pricing section and may be adjusted from time to time, with notice for material changes.

Listings run during term time (roughly September to May). They pause automatically over the summer break and resume when students return, unless agreed otherwise.

3. Eligibility

To subscribe you must:

  • Be a business or organisation with the legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
  • Provide accurate business and contact details
  • Be able to honour the offers you advertise to students

4. Your account

You manage your listings through the partner dashboard at partners.rhulmobile.com. You are responsible for the security of your sign-in, for keeping your business and contact details up to date, and for everything done under your account. You may add or remove people from your business account at your discretion.

5. Subscriptions, trials, and billing

  • Free trial. New partners start with a 14-day free trial. If you cancel before the trial ends, you pay nothing.
  • Plans. Plans are billed monthly or annually depending on the option you choose at checkout. Annual plans cover the term-time period and are billed once.
  • Payment. Payments are taken by card through Stripe, our payment processor. We do not see or store your full card details. The price shown is the price you pay. Shacksolutions Ltd is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.
  • Renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until you cancel. You can change or cancel your plan at any time from the dashboard.

6. Cancellation and refunds

  • Monthly plans. Cancel any time before your next billing date, with no notice period. Your listing runs until the end of the month you have paid for. We do not give partial refunds for the current month.
  • Annual term-time plans. These are non-refundable once the trial ends, but they are transferable to another business under the same ownership.
  • If we decline your listing. If we reject or remove your listing because it does not meet the standards below, you receive a full refund of the affected period.
  • Nothing in this section affects any rights you have under applicable law.

7. Deal standards

We accept legal, student-relevant offers: discounts, bundles, freebies, exclusives, taster offers, and group rates. We do not accept:

  • Gambling, vaping, or tobacco
  • Predatory finance (for example high-cost short-term credit)
  • "Unlimited drinks for a fixed price" style alcohol promotions, or anything that targets under-18s with alcohol
  • Anything misleading, unlawful, or unsafe

We review listings and may decline, edit, pause, or remove any listing at our discretion. Where we decline a listing you have paid for, section 6 applies.

8. Honouring your offers

You must honour the offer you advertise for its stated validity period. A deal redeemed through the app is a transaction between you and the student; we are not a party to it. If you repeatedly fail to honour redemptions, we may suspend or remove your listing.

9. No guaranteed results, editorial separation

We do not guarantee a number of views, redemptions, downloads, or sales. We share what your audience and engagement actually look like in your reporting. Paying for placement does not influence the accuracy or completeness of the organic content shown elsewhere in the app (news, events, bus times, laundry, and so on). Paid placements are labelled where they appear alongside organic content.

10. Your brand and content

You keep ownership of your logos, marks, and the copy you provide. You grant us a licence to display them in the app and on our sites for the purpose of running your listing. You confirm you have the right to use the materials you give us and that they do not infringe anyone else's rights.

11. Data protection

How we handle your business and billing data is set out in the advertiser privacy notice. We do not share students' personal data with partners; partner reporting uses aggregated counts only.

12. Liability

We provide the platform on a reasonable-efforts basis and do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free service. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost profits or goodwill. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

13. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or end your subscription if you breach these terms, fail to pay, or use the platform in a way that harms students or the service. You may cancel at any time as described in sections 5 and 6.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will give notice of material changes through the dashboard or by email. The "Last updated" date above shows when these terms were last revised. Continued use after a change takes effect is acceptance of the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
